-Hollywood Blacklisting
HUAC - began searching communist influence, specifically in HOLLYWOOD => blacklisting/jail sentences.

General Fear that radical and subversive Communists were infiltrating the US
MCCARTHYISM: Joseph McCarthy made crazy claims about "known communists" to advance his power and place in society.
=> made ppl believe American Society was infiltrated with secret communists (exacerbated Red Scare)

Fear of a nuclear strike from Soviet Union
- Business men were worries about losing their
power.
- Driven by the rich, working class
“Under God” - not only a political fight against
capitalism, and communism, but fight for
religion/Christianity


- Cold War Tension increased
