Description:
 Beginning in 1850, accelerating after the Civil War, while migrants, railroad employees, hunters, and "Wild West" men such as Buffalo Bill Cody shot and killed hundrends of thousands of Bison, which deliberately extermined the buffalo and the economy of the Plains Indians. Herds numbering at least 15 million were reduced to a mere thousands by 1875
