Operation Overlord/D-Day (jun 6, 1944 – aug 30, 1944)
Description:
Operation Overlord, took place in Normandy, France. It was an invasion launched the the Allies in German-occupied Europe during WWll. On the first day, D-Day, 156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops landed on five beaches on the coast of Normandy. This invasion was one of the largest amphibious military invasions in history and lots of planning went into it beforehand. They even created a large campaign to miss lead the Germans. By August, northern France was liberated and by next spring the Germans were defeated. Operation Overlord is known as the beginning of the end of the war.Added to timeline:
