Tet Offensive (jan 30, 1968 – sep 23, 1968)
Description:
The Tet Offensive by the Northern Vietnam army and the National Liberation Front (NFL) was one of the largest military campaigns in the Vietnam War. It’s name came from the holiday that it started on, which is the Vietnamese New Year. The campaign consisted of many surprise attacks all throughout Southern Vietnam against military control centers and civilian control centers. It was initially considered an defeat of Northern Vietnam, but then they realized that to finish the battle they would have to enlist about 200,000 more American soldiers to finish the campaign and it lost a lot of support in the states.
