Description:
The Tet Offensive was the name of a campaign in January of 1968 created by the Viet Cong. Their plan involved surprise attacking twenty seven southern Vietnam cities with the attempt to gain victory in the Vietnam war. The offensive ended in military defeat of the viet cong. One of the main targets for the Viet Cong was to take over the south vietnamese capital, Saigon and specifically the US embassy there. The viet cong attacks came as a large surprise to americans because they had not been receiving truthful news about what was going on in vietnam. This caused crisis throughout the Johnson administration because the lies told to the american people about the war.Added to timeline:
