504 sit ins (apr 5, 1977 – may 4, 1977)
Description:
This event was a sit in to protest for equality of disabled people. It was huge and happened in many federal building around the nation but the only one that lasted more than 28 hours was the one in San Francisco. In fact, it got so huge that other groups of people came in to help get supplies and meds to the disabled protesters. Some of these groups were the Black Panthers, vets from Vietnam, and even jefferson airplane. News crews are covering this event the entire time and is gaining the nations sympathy for the disabled rights movement. Judy Human and about 20 other people then go to Washington and demands rights for people with disabilities. The protest lasted 26 days.Added to timeline:
