Description:
By 1810, weakened royal authority in the Americas spurred revolts against Spanish rule in Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico. The most serious was a peasant rebellion in Mexico was led by Miguel, who rallied indigenous descent - against colonial rule. He became the symbol of Mexican independence, and the day on which he proclaimed his revolt - 16 September 1810 is Mexico's principal national holiday
