Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)
Description:
The Korean war began when Communist North Korean troops attacked South Korea by moving past the 38th parallel. The Soviets were backing the North Koreans, so the U.S. mobilized to fight on behalf of pro-Western South Korea, therefore the war was considered a war against Communism itself. An armistice was eventually signed, restoring the border to the 38th parallel, but the Korean War caused extreme casualties on all sides.
