Cuban Missile Crisis (oct 16, 1962 – oct 28, 1962)

Description:

The Cuban Missile Crisis was an extremely tense stand-off between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. After the Soviets were discovered to have nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, many Americans were terrified, due to the U.S. being on the brink of nuclear war. The U.S. enacted a naval blockade around Cuba, and president JFK was able to prevent nuclear war by making an agreement with soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to not attack Cuba as long as the missiles were removed. The U.S. also secretly agreed to remove missiles from Turkey.
