Berlin Airlift (jun 24, 1948 – may 12, 1949)

Description:

After WWII, the Allies divided Germany into zones occupied by the Soviets, Americans, British, and French. The capital, Berlin, was located in the Soviet-controlled section of Germany, but Berlin was also divided. The East was Soviet controlled, but the West was not. Wanting to drive the Allied forces entirely out of Berlin, the Soviets blockaded all roads into Western Berlin. Instead of giving up, the US and its allies airlifted food, supplies, and fuel to Western Berlin for over a year.
