Berlin airlift (jun 24, 1948 – may 12, 1949)

Description:

American and British officials started flying food and supplies into West Berlin due to the American blockade set up by Germany. Food, coal, and medicine were flown in, in order to help citizens in Berlin. This boosted American prestige around the world, and increased the positive regards for Americans. SOme piolets would drop little parachutes made of candy and they became known as the candy bombers.
