Description:
Ammon was an ancient Semitic-speaking kingdom situated east of the Jordan River, between the valleys of Arnon and Jabbok, in present-day Jordan. Its chief city was Rabbah or Rabbat Ammon, modern-day Amman, Jordan's capital. The gods Milcom and Molech are mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the deities of Ammon, and its people are referred to as the Children of Ammon or Ammonites.
