The rule of Egypt over Palestine (jan 1, 1550 BC – jan 1, 1150 BC)
Description:
Between 1550 and 1400 BCE, Canaanite city-states fell under the control of the New Kingdom of Egypt, expanding into the Levant under rulers like Ahmose I and Thutmose I. By 1450–1350 BCE, political and military events were documented in the Amarna Letters, detailing interactions between Egypt and local chieftains such as Biridiya of Megiddo, Lib'ayu of Shechem, and Abdi-Heba in Jerusalem. Evidence like the Beit She'an steles and Egyptian artifacts in the Levant suggests that Egyptian rule in Canaan persisted until around the mid-12th century BCE. Pharaoh Seti I further solidified Egyptian control by campaigning into Canaan in his first year of reign, reaching as far north as Beit She'an and installing local vassals to govern the region under Egyptian authority.
