Enforcement Acts (jan 1, 1870 – jan 1, 1871)
Description:
Congress passed the Enforcement Acts during this time in order to attempt persecution of white terrorist organizations. White men were constantly vandalizing black schoolhouses, even setting them on fire and attacking the teachers. The passing of Enforcement Acts show that the government was trying to get involved at least a little to protect colored folk.Added to timeline:
