The Vietnam War (nov 22, 1955 – apr 30, 1975)

Description:

1. Almost 3,000 Australians were either killed or wounded in the Vietnam War. More than 2 million civilians died.

2. There was no clear winner of the war. In Vietnam, the Vietnam War is called the American War. It was the longest war in American history.

3. South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand all fought in the war with the US. The United States withdrew from battle 2 years before the end.

4. Many young Americans fled to Canada in a bid to escape the draft, even though more than 3 quarters of men who fought were volunteers.

5. A chemical tool called 'Agent Orange' was used by the Americans to destroy foliage covering enemy troops. However, the herbicide was found to cause birth defects and cancer. To this day, babies are being born in Vietnam with terrible defects.
