Description:

- Southern government restore white rule
- Terrorists rise up to put the white men back in power
- Ex. KKK
- Black codes
- Codes that say that African Americans by law have to work for their lord
- If refused, they would be arrested, put in chains, and be worked in chains
- Sharecropping
The owner lets you stay on a little land and makes you pay rent
This is just like Encomienda
- Jim Crow laws
- AA would sue the owners
- Ban AA from a lot of things
- Ex. buses, water fountains, and trains
- Supreme Court says that it's okay to segregate
