Battle of Britain (jun 10, 1940 – oct 31, 1940)
Description:
In the summer and fall of 1940, German and British air forces clashed over the United Kingdom. It is still the largest bombing campaign to this day. A big turning point of World War II, the Battle of Britain ended when Germany failed to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force after months of targeting Britain’s population. Britain’s war victory saved them from a ground invasion by German forces.
