- cycle of debt, neoslavery

- literacy tests for voting
- can be skewed by the grader based on race
- higher poll taxes in black communities
- grandfather clause

Violence/Intimidation
- KKK
- scared people from even voting
- if someone did vote, they would be lynched
and their house burned
