Description:

Jun 24, 1948 – May 12, 1949,
after WWII when Germany and its capital city Berlin was divided into four, the Soviet Union wanted Berlin all to itself. Berlin was located in the soviet occupied zone of Germany. the Soviet Union cut off highways, and railroads, and canals from West Berlin. the U.S. and its allies made in effort called the Berlin airlift. the effort was made in order to get supplies to West Berlin. the airlift lasted for more than a year and carried more than 2.3 million tons of cargo into West Berlin.
