Description:
Immediate Cause - The English Navy under Barnet seized some French Ships to provoke France. France retaliated and seized Madras(fleet from Mauritius)
- Ended with the Treaty of Aix-La Chapelle bringing the Austrian War of Succession to a conclusion
- Madras was handed back to the English, and the French, in turn, got their territories in North America
- Significance --> Battle of St. Thome in Madras --> France vs Anwar-ud-din(nawab of Carnatic) --> France won --> Even a small disciplined army can lead to victory also the importance of naval power in Deccan; also importance of naval power
