With another early shown talent on the piano, Debussy was actually considered the foundation of the Impressionism period, as he discarded many of the traditional rules/laws in means of harmony and form. This would later be shown to be quite paradigmatic for the coming Impressionist composers, as it changed the feelings and textures from the standard, strict scales and chord patterns. Some of his most famous works include: the opera Pelléas et Mélisande (1902), the orchestral works Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun (1894) and La Mer (1905), and the piano Préludes (1910, 1913).
