Classical Period (may 1, 1750 – sep 1, 1820)
Description:
Characterized with its new addition of the piano and the new instruments introduced to the orchestras, the Classical period brought a change from the previous musical periods, most notably discontinuing the harpsichord to replace for the piano. This resulted in many of the sonatas being focused around the piano for its new attention as a replacement. The Classical period's composers also began to use more contrasts in means of emphasis and dynamics, and the addition of classicism made pieces have a notably clearer melody with the accompaniment of chords in the harmony. Also, the increasing size began the symphonies, which were made for larger orchestras in general.
