Description:
Queen of Russia after she had Peter III killed, Cathernine the great tried to westernize Russia, and was a major supporter of the philosophes. She reformed Russian law with the ideals of the Enlightenment, but still expanded serfdom and granted more power to the nobles. She also captured a great deal of territory for Russia in the Caucasus and Poland.
