Reign of Charles I of England (jan 1, 1625 – jan 1, 1649)
Description:
Charles I was James’ successor. He tried to repress Irish and Scottish rebellions against his religious policies. But parliament saw many of his decisions as illegal. In 1642 he went to war with parliament in the English Civil War. He lost this war, and was beheaded in 1649.
