Constitution of the Year III- the Directory (aug 22, 1795 – jan 1, 1799)
Description:
Expanded and edited version of the constitution of the year 1791, established the executive branch of 5 directors (5 men chosen by the Council of Ancients and were responsible for the day-to-day running of the country). It was written because France had been in a Reign of Terror and wanted to continue the revolution in a more moderate fashion.
