The Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, took place in Nanjing, which is a city in eastern China. Nanjing was the capital of the Republic of China at the time. The massacre occurred after the Imperial Japanese Army captured Nanjing (dec 1, 1937 – dec 1, 1949)
