TENNIS COURT OATH:
- 3rd Estate Generals are angry because they keep getting voted down
- at an Estates General meeting, the king locks the 3rd Estate delegates out so that they cannot attend- this is the last straw
- delegates get mad and go to the "tennis court" where they and a few from the nobility estate take an oath to change the power dynamic and start a revolution
Bastille
Worker class storm the Bastille: gunpowder-filled prison/dungeon (tore down every stone)
Rights of Man: written by Robespierre
- King Louis XVI gets scared by the document, thinking he will be overthrown and tries to flee: Flight to Varennes- but is arrested before he can leave
- The country thinks Louis is a traitor, is against the revolution, and cannot be trusted
