Nat Turner's Rebellion (aug 21, 1831 – aug 23, 1831)
Description:
Nat Turner, a black preacher, led a slave uprising in Virginia, which was shut down quickly, although not without white deaths. They had freed many slaves and killed about 60 white people, mostly kids and women, as they went on their rampage
This was significant because it instilled fear in the south regarding slave revolts. The south then went on to make stricter laws and limit education even further within the slave communities in an attempt to suppress revolutionary feelings.
