Epimistemology = Philosophy concerned with the nature of knowledge- expanded Berkeley's position
- idealism questioned the scientific uncovering of causes and effects
- association by similarity: principle humans use to group sensations (Gestalt precoursors) -> because two sensations resemble each other, we assume that they come from the same entity in the world
