Sumerians (jan 1, 5500 BC – jan 1, 2004 BC)
Description:
A culture that developed in the Ancient Middle East, and some of the first in the world to use a written alphabet in around 3000 BC.
It is from Sumeria that the Akkadian Empire, centered around the city of Akkad, grew. Likely the earliest of the six "pristine" cradles of civilization, they would go on to influence every major civilization in the area and through them, much of Asia and Europe.
