The Vietnam War (jan 1, 1955 – jan 1, 1975)

Description:

Beginning with a struggle against Colonial French rule, Vietnam faces decades of warfare. Communist North Vietnam fights against the American backed South Vietnamese Government for twenty years until they eventually succeed in defeating south Vietnam and unifying the country under Marxist-Leninist Rule.

Vietnam later invades Cambodia, putting an end to the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror but beginning a war with neighbouring China. While large scale war ended soon, Vietnamese occupation of cambodia would continue until 1989 and border clashes with China only ended in 1991.
