The Viking Age (jan 1, 793 – jan 1, 1066)
Description:
Raiding parties from Scandinavia voyage outwards in search of raiding and trading opportunities. In time they would colonise much of the North Sea Area. This would see the rise of figures such as Alfred the Great, Ragnar Lothbrok, Harald Hardrade and the foundations for later Norse sagas.
Vikings could be found as far away as modern day Turkey or Egypt and would play a notable role in the politics of the Eastern Roman Empire.
In Britain relations with Norse populations would vary greatly, from peaceful co-existence, to outright war, to attempts at genocide.
