Victorian (jan 1, 1831 – jan 1, 1901)
Description:
The reign of Queen Victoria, the longest in English history until Elizabeth II, was momentous for Britain. It coincided with the rapid growth and peak of the British Empire and Britain's influence around the world as well as massive economic changes that came about as a result of industrialisation.
Throughout her reign her authority over Government and Parliament was miniscule and her influence was minor. Electoral reforms would further Britain's democratisation as more and more people were able to vote in increasingly fair and less corrupt elections.
