He retired from kingship in 1173 at the age of 86. On March 4, 1164, Rogam ended the elective monarchy by forcing the passage of a law that had the House of Electors be suspended until further notice. He forced the passage of another succession law that said that each new Doram would be able to choose their heir when they begin their reign, only if it is confirmed by the Senate of Makarum. However, the senate rarely objected to a Doram's selection of an heir out of fear
