Salutary Neglect (jan 1, 1690 – jan 1, 1760)
Description:
Salutary Neglect was an unofficial British policy that relaxed regulation on colonial affairs as long as the colonies brought in enough revenue. Salutary Neglect caused colonists to view self-governance, free trade, and smuggling as a right instead of a privilege. Colonial views on Salutary Neglect caused problems in the future when it was removed.
