Boarding Schools in NM (jan 1, 1920 – jan 1, 1978)
Description:
The Boarding Schools didn't have a specific date on when they were made, but Native Americans were forced to go to these schools around the beginning of 1920. Native Americans were forbidden to speak their language, show their religion, take "normal" names, and long hair was cut off. It didnt end till 1978 when parents were finally allowed the legal right to prevent familiy seperation.
