Description:

Johannes Gutenberg was a craftsman and inventor born in 14th century Germany. In 1440 he invented the printing press, though there are accounts that he began work on this invention years prior (1436). Within the next ten years working prototypes were created and in 1454 the press was released commercially. Creating his famous print of the Bible, the appropriately named "the Gutenberg bible". this was the first major book to be printed using his press. The invention of the Gutenberg press mad books commonplace for the average household. As they were mass produced and more affordable. This event marked the beginning of the printing revolution in the Western world, a time where people could now spread information on a larger scale.
