New Economic Policy (mar 22, 1921 – jan 1, 1928)

Description:

New Economic Policy was implemented by Lenin in 1921 and lasted until 1928 that slightly moved the Soviet economy away from socialism and closer to capitalism. Due to war communism the Soviet economy was in shambles Lenin had to introduce more capitalist policies to keep the economy afloat. The NEP allowed peasants to keep some of their produce and even sell the excess. This actually caused the economy to recover but eventually Stalin ended it.
