Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)
Description:
The war began when over 75,000 soldiers from North Korea's army crossed the 38th parallel. This was the first military action of the Cold War. By July, the American troops had entered the war on behalf of South Korea. After some back-and-forth action across the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled and the casualties skyrocketed. Finally, in July 1953, the war came to an end and some 5 million soldiers and civilians lost their lives.
