Swahili Coast (jan 1, 700 – jan 1, 1500)
Description:
The Swahili Coast, expanding 1800 miles from modern day Somalia to Mozambique, was the centre of trade across the Indian Ocean. The geography of the Swahili Coast was a huge advantage because it allowed access to China, India, Arabia, etc. to trade with the merchants on the coast making it a very popular place for trade on the Indian Ocean.
