WW1 (jul 28, 1914 – nov 11, 1918)
Description:
This war first started when Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was shot dead. The Austro-Hungarian Empire then blamed the Serbian Government for the assassination, and one by one, countries in Europe began joining either side of the looming war.
The Allied Powers were Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Canada, Japan and the United States. The Central Powers were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire. By the end of the war, the Allied powers claimed victory, but not after 16 million people had died.
