Description:

The Dark Ages, often referring to the period in Europe between the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century and the beginning of the Carolingian Renaissance in the 8th century, were marked by widespread social, economic, and cultural decline. During
this time, there was a significant loss of centralized political authority, trade networks crumbled, and learning and literacy decreased dramatically. It was a tumultuous era characterized by a lack of historical records and a general regression in many aspects
of European society, but it also set the stage for the eventual emergence of the medieval period and the revival of learning during the later Middle Ages.
