THE
SECOND
GREAT
FLOOD (jan 1, 7127 BC – jan 1, 6500 BC)
Description:
In the year 7127 BC, a "comet" crashed into the surface of the earth in what is now Hudson Bay, Canada. The already decadent and declining Atlantean Empire could not withstand this calamity. The Atlanteans sensitive biology, which was already stretched to its limits by earth's regular conditions, became completely exhausted by the new atmospheric and climactic conditions which the great flood and it's aftermath caused. Atlanteans on the surface would be killed instantly by the shockwave, along with a large portion of earth's flora and fauna. The Ice age the earth had been comfortable with for an age abruptly came to an end as glaciers broke loose from their shelves with the intense force of the impact's shockwave and subsequent tidal wave.
This impact was the greatest earth had seen since a larger and denser asteroid had impacted off the coast of Mexico millions of years prior, wiping out the dinosaurs. While not quite as massive as that impact, this impact was more than powerful enough to spell the end of Atlantean civilization.
The surviving Atlanteans could not leave their bunkers for the century following the impact due to the entrances becoming buried under vast quantities of displaced sediment. When the grandchildren of the first Atlanteans to witness the calamity finally managed to poke their heads out for a look, they found a world entirely uninhabitable to them.
Their only consolation was that their bio-thralls had survived too, despite great losses in number. The Krakens had been anxiously awaiting their return, but upon seeing Atlantean biology falling apart within hours beyond the bunker, despaired. The Queen, the final monarch Atlantis would ever have, gave the official order to seal all surviving Atlanteans in stasis within their deep sea bunker. She advised the Biologically immortal Krakens above to guard the bunker with their lives, only waking any Atlanteans in dire emergencies or incredible circumstances.
