The Lunacy (feb 1, 2036 – sep 9, 2038)

Description:

The "Lunacy" (Named as a pun of the Luna-C Artemis mission and its unexpectedly dramatic results) was a period of global political instability resulting from the accidental rise to power of Patrick Bone, an astronaut who would become the sole person in control of the largest nuclear arsenal humanity had ever posessed thus far.

An unlikely set of circumstances involving organized terrorism, scientific breakthroughs, and government coverups resulted in the untrained and mentally unwell astronaut in a position of absolute unstoppable power.

As psychological mania and a god complex began to develop within Bone's mind, he began a campaign of vigilantism using his nuclear leverage to depose tyrants, expose corruption, and rewrite laws to benefit the people. Bone's vigilantism culminated in a fake plan to wipe out humanity which bone used to trick the world's governments into accidental denuclearization, as the bombs proceeded to explode harmlessly at a safe distance from earth.

The period dramatically altered the balance of power between earth's superpowers and the organization of the United Nations, and would directly lead to the ratifying of the Treaty of Albuquerque a year later.
