Second Five-Year Plan (jan 29, 1932 – apr 17, 1937)
Description:
Marked by worker disenfranchisement and empowerment of managers. Set standards of production and work with "one-upism" through "shock workers" and "shock brigades" that were hyper-productive. This model was exemplified by Aleksei Stakhanov, who was the ultimate shock worker and set a higher level of expectation, leading to "Stakhanovism". Ultimately unsustainable because there is an upper limit to human productivity, and undermined regularization.
