Bulgars (jan 2, 334 – jan 1, 680)
Description:
The earliest written record in which the Bulgars are referred to by their own ethnic name (Vulgares) is contained in a short Latin chronicle under the year 334, noting that they descended from Noah's son Ziesi, and were among the 25 peoples who lived in the east. Twenty years later, in a Roman calendar of 354, the same information is repeated verbatim
The Chronographus or Codex-Calendar of 354 is a collection of diverse texts that had independent traditions and circulations at Rome before being brought together into a single opus c. 354 AD.
