Description:

Murder of Juan Corrida by Matt Engarde via hired assassin Shelly De Killer. Defendant is Matt Engarde.

- The first loss for Phoenix Wright.

- Miles Edgeworth returns from a year-long sabbatical after faking his death.

- Maya Fey is kidnapped and used as blackmail against Phoenix Wright, leveraging for a not-guilty verdict.

- Adrien Andrews is caught in the midst of the investigation and is nearly incarcerated for the murder, until revealing that she had arranged the crime scene to frame Engarde.

- Franziska von Karma and Detective Gumshoe both aid Phoenix and Edgeworth in capturing Engarde by investigating during the trials and bringing conclusive evidence. They also suffer critical injuries, with Franziska being shot in her right shoulder and Gumshoe getting into a car accident.
