Artabanus (feb 21, 465 BC – nov 24, 465 BC)
Description:
Artabanus is responsible for the assassination of Xerxes I. He deceived Artaxerxes I, Xerxes youngest son, into believing that it was his older brother, Darius (not Darius I), who murdered his father. Darius was then taken to the palace of Artaxerxes and put to death. He also plotted to kill Artaxerxes I, but Artaxerxes learned of it and had Artabanus killed, reclaiming the throne for himself. To ensure his spot on the throne, Artaxerxes has his older brother, Hystaspes, killed.
