The Book Of Healing (jan 1, 1020 – jan 1, 1027)
Description:
Completed and published the Book of Healing,
This is without a doubt Avicenna's most influential work in the scope of the philosophy of science. Kitab al-shifa, or "The Book of Healing" covered his takes on philosophy, logic, psychology, metaphysics, as well as geometry, astronomy, mathematics, and music.
One of the more notable achievements of this work concerns the methods of scientific inquiry. Confronting Aristotle's Posterior Analytics on a number of points, Avicenna goes on to discuss how one acquires the first principles of science, supporting a newer method of observation and experimentation to draw upon valid conclusions. He is largely credited with this development in what is now the modern scientific method.
Avicennism is developed as a school of Islamic philosophy, largely born from this encyclopedia among with many other works attributed to him. Some consider him largely responsible for laying the major groundwork of Islamic philosophy.
