Woodrow Wilson- 28th President of United States, 1914-1920, Democrat, believed in neutrality, idealist, believed that the U.S. had the right to peaceful free trade, national self-determination, “absolute neutrality”
Robert Lansing- Secretary of State during WWI from 1915-1920, conservative, pro-business democrat, strong advocate of democracy and the United States’ role in establishing international law. Enemy of Germand autocracy and Russian Bolshevism. Skeptical of Wilson’s self-determination principle and opposed the Treaty of Versailles.
